What is in a name?

I was born and raised in Ross-shire, a region in the Scottish Highlands renowned for its rugged beauty. My family name is Ross, and as a clan, the Rosses have strongly influenced this region over the centuries, shaping a lot of its history.

Rois is the gaelic word for Ross and is pronounced ‘Roy-sh’. The ‘h’ was added to make pronunciation easier creating ‘Roish’. The name Roish honours both my geographical and family roots in Scotland, bringing a little bit of Scotland here as I continue to embrace this incredible country that is Canada.
